Windcaller
Windcaller — Melody Duels
Your instrument is your spellbook.
Windcaller is a turn-based melody battler where you cast spells by playing real melodies on a real instrument. Pick up your melodica, recorder, flute, or any instrument that holds a pitch — and fight.
How to Play
- Allow microphone access
- Play a melody on your instrument
- The game recognizes the notes and casts the matching spell
- Battle through waves of increasingly dangerous monsters
No menus. No buttons. No clicking. Just play.
Spells
Each spell is a short melody (2-4 notes). Learn the basic ones first:
| Spell | Melody | Element |
|---|---|---|
| Ice Shard | C → D | Ice |
| Wind Blast | D → C | Wind |
| Fireball | E → G | Fire |
| Minor Heal | A → G | Heal |
More powerful spells unlock as you progress — Blizzard, Tornado, Lightning, Firestorm, and more.
Tips
- Enemies have weaknesses and resistances — pay attention to their type
- Hold notes steady for better timing scores and critical hits
- Later waves introduce tempo shifts, cursed notes, and enrage timers
- Use the Tune Up screen from the menu to test if your instrument is recognized
What You Need
- A browser with microphone access (Chrome recommended)
- Any instrument that can hold a sustained pitch — melodica, recorder, flute, keyboard, even whistling
- A reasonably quiet room
